Caste survey begins in erstwhile Warangal

Telangana: The comprehensive family survey was launched on Wednesday under the supervision of district collectors of six districts of the erstwhile Warangal district, accompanied by an awareness campaign among the people.

According to the 2011 census, officials divided the houses into blocks, each composed of 150 units, in the respective districts.

Wide publicity has been done in the last two days with the help of Anganwadi and ASHA workers and even playing drums in the villages.

Enumerator teams were formed with Secondary Level Teachers (SGTs), Assistant Education Officers (AEOs), anganwadi workers, junior assistants, panchayat secretaries and community resource persons (CRPs).

In the first phase, which began on Wednesday, enumerators visited houses to sensitize residents. They explained that the state government undertook the survey to study the social, economic, educational, professional and political status and situation of the people along with their castes. The survey will help people in future to avail various welfare benefits provided by the state government.

Enumerators pasted stickers on houses asking residents to keep the necessary documents ready and urging them to provide accurate details about their families.

Each form, designed by the government with 75 questions, takes at least 20 minutes to complete.

Training was provided to enumerators to minimize errors. At the end of each day, all the details collected in the survey will be handed over to the constituency special officers who, with the help of IT operators, will upload the information online.
