Missouri teen charged with murder, including fatal crash in Oklahoma after chase

ROGERS COUNTY, Okla. (KY3) – Oklahoma prosecutors have charged a Greene County teenager wanted in a fatal crash following a pursuit with law enforcement.

According to Oklahoma court documents, Anthony Giancola, 17 years old of Rogersville is charged with first degree murder, endangering others while eluding police, causing serious bodily injury while eluding police, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen vehicle, endangering others while eluding police and the pattern of criminal offences.

The crash happened Sunday on Highway 66 near 410 Road in Rogers County. The pursuit began after authorities said Giancola stole a vehicle in Vinita.

Deputies stopped the pursuit for safety. Investigators say Giancola was exiting Highway 66 when she hit a vehicle carrying 23-year-old Logan Harrel and her mother. Harrel died in the accident. She was a cheerleader at nearby Rogers State University.

Investigators say Giancola stole at least three cars, two in Missouri and one in Oklahoma. They say he was also involved in three separate activities, including one in Greene County.

Investigators believe Giancola also entered a home near Springfield to steal another vehicle. Investigators say Giancola told them he planned to kill the owner, but changed his mind.

“He made a scary comment and went into great detail about breaking into someone’s home that was occupied,” Rogers County Sheriff Scott Walton said. “After that, he knew he was going to have to keep switching vehicles quite often to get to California.”

Investigators say Giancola told them he was planning a string of murders from Missouri to Texas to California. Greene County investigators say his family reported him missing hours before the murder began.

Giancola is currently in the Craig County Juvenile Detention Center.
