Cardiff Castle Field of Remembrance opens

A Field of Remembrance has opened at Cardiff Castle in memory of those killed serving in the armed forces.

It opened with a service and two minutes silence at 11am before a bugle sounded the Last Post.

Every year, tens of thousands of people leave tributes at six fields across the UK created by the Royal British Legion (RBL) using secular or religious signs, including crosses.

RBL Director of Remembrance Phillippa Rawlinson said the public were welcome to visit the sites.

“With every tribute planted, someone remembers a loved one, family member, friend or companion, and our six sites allow people to reflect in their own way,” she said.

The fields are open until November 12, the day after Armistice Day.
