Once polls close in Michigan, results are expected fairly quickly for the 2024 general election.

Michigan voters can vote in person at their local precinct anytime between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Some polls located in the western Upper Peninsula do not close until 9:00 p.m. eastern time.

When will the winners be announced?

Because of updates to Michigan’s vote-counting laws, results are expected much sooner than the 2020 election.

Detroit is expected to report all votes by midnight, while the rest of the state is expected to have all votes by late Wednesday at the latest.

That means most key races could be called by Wednesday morning.
