Man charged in connection with mass attack on Westport Road

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A man is facing charges in connection with a mass shooting on Westport Road that left five people injured in October.

According to court documents, Jerome Washington, 30, is charged with attempted armed robbery in the first degree, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm.

A probable cause document says the victims entered a business to record music, then found Washington with other suspects armed with “AR-style” handguns and rifles.

Washington allegedly robbed the victims before a firefight began. In total, three minors and two adults were injured.

Police are still looking for other suspects.

On Oct. 25, KCPD told KCTV detectives have identified five suspects in a shooting at a Midtwon business. In the aftermath, the city of Kansas City shut down Westport Media Collective following the shooting, claiming the business did not have a valid license to operate. The business also did not have a current inspection from the fire department and was forced to close immediately as a result of the violations.

A KCPD spokesman told KCTV in early October that of the five people injured in the shooting, three had critical injuries and two others had serious injuries.
