Man held on $2 million bail for alleged home shooting

PARAGOULD, Ark. (KAIT) – Police have arrested a man after they say he shot into a home that had several people and children inside.

According to the affidavit, Paragould Emergency Services received multiple calls at 6:50 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, about shots fired at a home in the 200 block of South 10th Avenue.

A caller said Devin Dancer, 22, of Paragould and a named juvenile were the shooters.

Upon arrival, several people told officers that Dancer had left the residence following an argument. The dancer returned with the minor a short time later and another argument ensued.

“Witnesses reported that the defendant (Dancer) was in the passenger seat of the named juvenile’s silver Ford Explorer and that he held an AR-15 style rifle, pointed it at a person at the scene and then fired approximately three cartridges,” the affidavit. he stated. Police on the scene found bullet holes in the shot home.

Police said in the affidavit that there were four adults and two juveniles “in front of or inside the residence where he was shot,” but none of them were injured.

Officers found the Ford Explorer at another home in the 700 block of Wirt Street.

The affidavit said as he approached the home, a man was spotted through the front window. Then someone was heard running through the back yard.

The officers gave commands to the person inside the home, and the two juveniles came out.

“A juvenile advised that the defendant (Dansator) ran out the back door of the residence just prior to our arrival,” police said. “The same juvenile advised there was a gun in the front seat of his vehicle.”

After obtaining a search warrant for the Ford Explorer, officers found an AR-15 pistol, several shell casings and other pertinent evidence.

While processing the two scenes, Paragould EMS received a 911 call about a man with a gun near the area where Dancer ran.

Police later found Dancer walking in the area and arrested him. The two juveniles were also questioned in Mirandized interviews and gave statements that aligned with the victim statements.

On Sunday, October 3, the Honorable Judge Daniel Stidham of Greene County found probable cause to arrest Dancer for acts of terrorism, unlawful discharge of a firearm from a vehicle and aggravated assault.

The dancer is being held in the Greene County Detention Center on $2 million bail. Upon his release, he is ordered to have no contact with the victim and not to possess any weapons.
