The security checkpoint was located on 22nd Street, but the line extended to Logan Square and bypassed 22nd Street Monday afternoon.

A major traffic advisory is that the Ben Franklin Parkway is closed from Logan Square at 18th Street through Eakins Oval.

City officials told Action News they are prepared to handle such a large event and for election day, which is Tuesday.

“We’ve expanded our control area, we’ve expanded our staff over the next two days. Some people may be worried about tonight’s event. We are fully staffed on location. We’ve extended the hours of our men and women. We’ll be ready to respond to whatever happens tomorrow and whatever unfolds this week,” said Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel.

Harris and Trump are making a furious push in the final day before Election Day, keeping Pa. in the center of attention

A presidential campaign that has gone through a murder trial, an incumbent president has been kicked off the ticket and several assassination attempts add up to a final push in several states on the eve of Election Day.

Harris will spend all day Monday in Pennsylvania, whose 19 electoral votes provide the largest prize among the states is expected to determine the outcome of the Electoral College. The vice president and Democratic nominee will tour working-class areas, including Allentown, and conclude with a late-night rally in Philadelphia.

Donald Trump is planning four rallies in three states, starting in Raleigh, North Carolina and making two stops in Pennsylvania, with events in Reading and Pittsburgh. The Republican candidate and former president ends his campaign the way he ended the first two, with an event late Monday night in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Some 77 million Americans have already voted early, but Harris and Trump are pushing to get millions more supporters on Tuesday. Any result on election day will have a historic outcome.

A Trump victory would make him the first president to be indicted and convicted of a misdemeanor after his hush money trial in New York. He will gain the power to end other pending federal investigations against him. Trump would also become the second president in history to win non-consecutive terms in the White House, after Grover Cleveland in the late 19th century.

Harris is vying to become the first woman, the first black woman and the first person of South Asian descent to reach the Oval Office, four years after she broke the same barriers to national office by becoming President Joe Biden’s second-in-command.
