Train and car crash Sunday night in Davenport

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – A car and a railroad car crashed Sunday night in Davenport, officials say.

According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, at 11:22 p.m., officials responded Sunday to the 18400 block of 110th Avenue in Davenport for a report of a car and rail car accident.

Officials said an initial investigation found a 1994 GMC Sierra was traveling southbound on 110th Avenue when it failed to stop at a stop sign posted at a railroad crossing. The GMC then collided with a boxcar.

The sheriff’s office said two people inside the GMC were taken to area hospitals.

The accident remains under investigation by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Team
