BCSO identifies teen arrested in connection with donut stunt accident

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has identified a teenager arrested and charged with manslaughter and injury to a child in connection with the death of another teenager during a donut stunt accident, according to an agency spokesman.

Daniel James Krupalla, 17, was arrested and booked into the Bexar County Jail early Sunday morning.

The deputies have arrived Early Saturday morning at a property in the 900 block of Zigmont Road, located south of FM 1346 in eastern Bexar County, for reports of an accident.

When deputies arrived, six teenagers were found injured. One of them died, the spokesman said.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner had not identified the victim as of Monday morning. However, the family identified him as Henry Casas Jr.

BCSO said Casas was ejected from the vehicle. It was not immediately clear if he or any of the vehicle’s occupants were wearing seat belts.

Deputies identified Krupalla as the driver, who told investigators he and his friends were walking on the property and one of the passengers was hanging out the back window when the vehicle lost control and rolled over twice, the carrier said by word of mouth.

Krupalla admitted to reckless driving and identified Casas as the victim, the spokesman said.

The other injured teenagers are expected to be OK. The parents of two of the injured teenagers declined to press charges, the spokesman said.

Krupalla’s bond was set at $50,000 on Nov. 2, according to Bexar County Court Records.
