Kent County Council is holding a consultation on its five-year education strategy

Kent County Council (KCC) is running a consultation on its draft education strategy for 2025 to 2030.

KCC seeks to focus on improving educational outcomes, enhancing well-being and creativity, and making schools environmentally and financially sustainable.

The draft document also outlines the council’s ambitions for future-proofing, including identifying threats and opportunities in AI for education and contingency planning.

Counselor Rory Love said: “Ambition, curiosity and resilience are three of the most important things a child needs for both a successful education and their future life skills.”

Other ambitions of KCC included increasing mental health, physical health and fitness in schools.

The draft strategy identified the inclusion and consistency of SEND as “significant areas of weakness”.

The consultation will run until Wednesday 11 December 2024.
