Lake Cahuilla

Located in Lake Cahuilla Veterans Regional Park, this 135-acre reservoir is nestled in the shadow of the majestic Santa Rosa Mountains. The surrounding 710-acre recreation area offers picnicking, hiking, biking and camping at nearly 100 sites, many with amenities like RV hookups and equestrian access. The site also has showers, grills and bike racks. Although swimming is not permitted in the lake except for special events such as the annual Ironman triathlon (December 8, 2024), a huge pool open from April to October provides a welcome respite. Popular for fishing, the lake stocks catfish five times a year. Expect to pay a small entrance fee per person when you arrive; permits are slightly higher for fishing and overnight camping.
