VERONA, Wis. (WMTV) – Five people died after the vehicle they were in crashed and caught fire late Friday night, according to the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.

DCSO confirms the vehicle was traveling north on Range Trail when it left the road and struck a tree. The car caught fire and was completely engulfed in flames.

All five people inside were dead, according to DCSO deputies who arrived around 11:12 p.m. Friday.

DCSO, Verona Police and Verona Fire and EMS responded to the scene, which is just north of Sunset Drive.

Officials say the identities of the victims will be released at a later date.

DCSO is still investigating what caused the crash.
