Hull thief who threatened an elderly victim with a gun has been jailed

A burglar who forced his way into a 71-year-old man’s home and threatened him with a piece of wood has been jailed.

Ashley Moss, 36, of Earsham Close, Hull, was charged with aggravated burglary following the incident on February 16.

Moss stole £500 from the victim’s wallet, cigarettes and tobacco before fleeing the scene, police said.

He was jailed for seven years and two months at Hull Crown Court on Wednesday after pleading guilty.

PC Nicola Knight, of Humberside Police, said: “Any break into someone’s property is certainly a terrifying ordeal but the involvement of a weapon has left the victim shaken.

“I hope the outcome gives the public some reassurance that incidents like this will not be tolerated.”
