Revolution in the killing of the Algoa Bus employee

A dedicated team of detectives involved in the investigation into the murder of an employee of the Algoa Bus Company made a breakthrough in the case.

Police have arrested a 48-year-old suspect who is due to appear at Gqeberha Magistrates’ Court on Friday afternoon.

According to information gathered at the scene, the deceased, Timothy Botha, aged 53, arrived at the depot at Perl Road, Korsten at around 07:00.

A security guard on duty is said to have heard multiple gunshots in the parking lot.

In a statement, police spokeswoman Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg said: “The guard activated his panic alarm but saw nothing. When it was quiet, he found the deceased with multiple gunshot wounds in the upper part of the body.”

During the investigation, detectives gathered information and identified one of the suspects allegedly involved in the murder.

The suspect was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday in Kwazakhele.

According to Janse Van Rensburg, the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
