Singapore hands over fifth tranche of humanitarian aid to Gaza

SINGAPORE: A fifth tranche of humanitarian aid will be delivered to Gaza, bringing Singapore’s donations to the Palestinian enclave to about US$18 million ($13.6 million).

Foreign Affairs Minister Vivian Balakrishnan and Family and Social Development Minister Masagos Zulkifli on Friday (November 1) witnessed the latest handover of aid by the Rahmatan Lil Alamin Foundation (RLAF) to UNICEF, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAF) said.

The ministry noted that RLAF will contribute $700,000 from the ongoing fundraising campaign for Gaza to support UNICEF’s humanitarian relief operations. The latest installment also includes a $200,000 contribution from the MFA to RLAF.

RLAF’s fundraising campaign will continue until December 13, with the remaining funds raised going to the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization and Humanity Matters.

“This latest tranche of aid is part of Singapore’s ongoing contributions to alleviate the suffering in Gaza,” the MFA said.

As of 7 October 2023, the Singaporean government and local non-governmental organizations have partnered with Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates and Cyprus to provide approximately US$18 million in donations to Gaza.
