Police Chief Vidor’s dashcam video captures hot pursuit of suspect going up to 120 mph

A chase boss was part of a pursuit that turned into a wild ride when an armed suspect stole a pickup truck and led several officers on a chase at speeds of up to 120 miles per hour.

The suspect was eventually caught after a pursuit that began shortly after 7 a.m. and spanned four counties.

Vidor Police Chief Rod Carroll shared his dash cam video with KFDM.

The pursuit began when a man with a gun stole a 2022 Dodge pickup truck in Orange. The suspect fled with multiple agencies in pursuit.

Chief Carroll joined the pursuit, coordinating with other law enforcement agencies.

“Out of lane, Brooks Road, speed 117,” Chief Carroll can be heard saying at one point in the dash cam video as the pursuit continued west into Jefferson County.

Chief Carroll and the others sailed through heavy rain. He abandoned the pursuit when Chambers County officers joined in force.

The suspect eventually made it to Channelview, then turned around and sped toward Baytown, where he escaped and was eventually apprehended.

Chief Carroll says at least eight law enforcement agencies attended, working to stop the suspect when they learned he was armed.
