Teen accused of stabbing boy at Peoria high school football game

PEORIA, AZ (AZ Family) — A 14-year-old boy faces serious charges after he was arrested nearly two weeks after a stabbing at a Peoria High School football game at the beginning of this month.

The suspect surrendered to police on Wednesday. He was booked into the Durango Juvenile Detention Center on two counts of aggravated assault and one count of assault.

On the night of Oct. 18, the two boys reportedly got into a fight near the bleachers at Peoria High School near 83rd Avenue and Grand Avenue.

That’s when the 14-year-old stabbed the other in the stomach, police said.

The victim was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, while the suspect took off from the scene.

Police said the recommended charges could be changed.

“Every school campus should be considered a safe place, and those willing to compromise will be identified, arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” the Peoria Police Department said in a statement.
