LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – An argument over loud music led to a fatal stabbing in downtown Las Vegas.

FOX5 has obtained an arrest report for Aristides Rafael Matute. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is charging him with open murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

The the stabbing happened at an apartment near Decatur Boulevard and Rancho Drive. It was the early morning hours of October 17th.

Las Vegas police received a call reporting an altercation. When officers arrived, they found two Hispanic males holding each other. One of them was Matute.

The officers would take him into custody.

Police have begun an investigation into the stabbing. They interviewed the family that lived at the address.

In an interview, a family member said he came from Venezuela to Las Vegas for asylum. His father was the victim and his brother-in-law, Matute, stabbed him.

That night, the family lay in bed with Matute playing loud music. The family asked him to turn down the music, but he refused.

Matute started an argument and a fight with the witness’s father.

According to the report, Matute grabbed a knife from beside his bed and stabbed him several times.

Matute tried to flee the scene but was held back by the family.

Police officers would later find the knife behind a couch in the living room.

Due to the suspect’s medical condition, police were unable to speak with Matute.

From the police investigation, officers arrested Matute on a charge of open murder with a deadly weapon.
