Tottenham 2-1 Man City: The fans have their say on the EFL Cup match

We asked for your thoughts on Wednesday’s EFL Cup match between Tottenham and Manchester City.

Here are some of your comments:

Tottenham fans

Doug: Great result, I’m delighted Werner gets a goal. He’s had a few more chances and he’s done better with them, so hopefully he’ll continue to grow. Let’s hope that Van de Ven’s injury is not a serious one. And when Romero left, we didn’t have any of our main defenders and we still played well and got the result. We have to keep building because it’s a tough game on Sunday at Villa.

Stephen: I thought we played well and had more chances to put the game to bed in the second half. We defended very well and Bentancur and Bissouma were very good together. We have to remember that this was not Manchester City’s first team, it was ours.

William: Today was like a Spurs win against Manchester City of yesteryear – solid defensively and dangerous on the counter. I love watching Ange’s fearless style of play, but today he showed that sometimes taking a step back can work and that against teams like City sometimes you have to adapt your style of play to the quality of the opposition.

Man City fans

Play: They lacked the killer instinct. Pep has fielded a third XI, there’s no doubt about it. They did well but could have stamped their authority if they finished their chances. It’s a blow to me as a fan. But Pep has made his views clear on the fixture crowd and fielding an inexperienced squad.

John: Despite going down in defeat, it was so heartening to see so much of City’s youth team fit into the Pep way of playing. The future of the city looks good, very good.

Jim: I was at the game and worried about the ease with which Spurs scored the first goal. However, we had a good second half and the lads did well.
