Kenner Police say more alleged victims are coming forward in the Bonnabel student molestation case

KENNER, La. (WVUE) – Kenner Police said Wednesday (Oct. 30) that a fourth alleged victim has come forward in the child molestation case against Bonnabel High School student Luis Renan Bonilla-Alfaro.

The 17-year-old from Honduras is accused of sexually assaulting boys who police said were 4, 7 and 8 years old, as well as a fourth unidentified boy under 13.

“Having them commit sexual acts with you as a 17-year-old is just mind-boggling,” Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley said Wednesday.

Bonilla-Alfaro allegedly committed the murders at Airline Oaks Trailer Park, off Airline Highway, where the teenager lived.

“He may have other victims outside of that community, but it looks like he’s victimizing kids in that trailer park,” Conley said.

Kenner Police said Bonilla-Alfaro will be booked on additional charges as more information is learned about the unidentified fourth victim. The teenager was arrested Tuesday on charges of first-degree rape, two counts of sexual assault, two counts of pornography involving minors under 13 and two counts of indecent behavior with minors.

Fox 8 Legal Analyst Joe Raspanti said the most serious charge is the first degree rape count. Because this crime is punishable in Louisiana by a life sentence, it should be charged by a grand jury indictment.

“He is being prosecuted as an adult,” Raspanti said. “That carries a life sentence if convicted. Because he’s so young, he might have a chance to cut him short.”

Police also said Bonilla-Alfaro was in the United States illegally and had an ICE detainer placed on him.

Jefferson Parish schools did not respond to questions about how the teenager was enrolled at Bonnabel High or whether his students were alerted to his arrest.

Raspanti said if the teenager is charged and convicted, he will have to serve prison time in the U.S. before being deported.

“The feds have to wait until the state process is finished. In that case, this process could take a very long time,” he said.

Kenner police have a staff of bilingual officers and 911 operators to assist Spanish-speaking neighbors who want to come forward to report crimes.
