How neighbors honor the four victims of a deadly fire

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Demolition crews are now tearing down a home on Langhorne Creek Street, where a deadly fire claimed the lives of four people, including two children, on Thursday.

Clark County issued the identity document of the four victims on Tuesday.

  • Ibrahim Adem, 48 years old
  • Abdusalem Adem, 43 years old
  • Anaya Adem, 7 years old
  • Aaliyah Adem, 6 years old

A family friend told me Tuesday that Abdusalem was Anaya and Aaliyah’s father and Ibrahim was his brother.
Two survivors jumped from the third floor of the burning house, a mother named Senait Adem and her son, Adem. Both suffered injuries.

The family established a GoFundMe page to raise money to support them in this time of loss.

The cause of this fire is still under investigation. Hours after last Thursday’s fire, Clark County Fire Chief John Steinbeck announced that they had learned that witnesses had reported hearing a possible explosion.

“We heard the same thing, but an investigation is ongoing,” Chief Steinbeck said.

It has not been confirmed if an explosion occurred, but Channel 13 saw ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) crews at the scene of the fire Thursday and Friday.

A retired LVMPD investigator told Channel 13 that ATF crews are frequently seen when a fatal fire occurs.

Clark County said the investigation could take more than a month and the cause of death of the victims could take up to 90 days.

As crews continue to block off the property and demolish the parts of the home still standing, the neighbors he started a memorial right across the street from the house.

The memorial is filled with flowers, teddy bears and more to remember the four who died.

“It’s devastating, absolutely devastating,” said Donna Tift, 78, who lives three houses away from the deadly fire.

“When I looked outside, it was chaos and all the vehicles and people from that family, some of them or relatives or something, were crying in the front yard and falling to the ground, and that’s when I realized what was going on. “

Tift said she has experienced loss herself, losing her 52-year-old son to colon cancer just months ago.

“I mean, our situation is so fresh for a person, but for this, I’m blown away,” Tift said. “You know, we think we’ve got our lives figured out and that every day is going to be the same or better, but not this.”

We will continue to update you with details on the fire investigation as we receive them.
