Shortly before 10 a.m. Monday, Davenport police responded to a storage garage at 1000 Blythwood Place after a report of a burglary, arrest affidavits say.

A relative of Adams rents storage unit 11, which shares a wall with unit 10 to the north and a wall with unit 12 to the south, according to the affidavits. On or around Oct. 14, at an unknown time, police say Adams unscrewed a wooden panel from the wall separating units 11 and 12 and entered unit 12 “for no lawful purpose and without the owner’s permission.”

Adams, the affidavits show, then stole a toolbox “containing a multitude of tools.” Adams “hid these items in his (relative’s) apartment. The total value and loss to the owner (was) $650.”

After being read his Miranda rights, Adams “admitted that he committed this act to fund an addiction to methamphetamine,” the affidavits say.

At an unknown time on Sunday, Adams unscrewed a wooden panel from the wall separating Units 11 and 10 and entered Unit 10, police said in the affidavit. “He then stole 2 totes containing Christmas decorations, a wooden cabinet, a reel crate, fishing rods, a metal detector and gun canisters.”

Adams then stored these items in his relative’s unit. The total loss to the owner was $520, according to the affidavit.

After being read his Miranda rights, Adams admitted he committed the act to fund a meth addiction, the affidavits state.

In Adams’ wallet, 0.4 grams of methamphetamine was found divided between clear plastic bags. In the affidavits, police say Adams “admitted that the meth was his and that he was addicted to it.”

A glass pipe used for smoking narcotics was located in Adams’ right front pocket. Police say in affidavits that Adams admitted the pipe was his and that he used it to smoke meth.

Adams, who was being held in the Scott County Jail on $5,000 bail Tuesday night, is arraigned Nov. 21 in Scott County Circuit Court.
