Attacker Paul Pelosi was sentenced to life without parole

A San Francisco the judge sentenced David DePape, the man who brutally attacked him of Nancy Pelosi husband with a hammer two years ago, to life in prison without the possibility of patrolling.

DePape was convicted of five state charges in June: residential burglary, aggravated kidnapping, attempting to influence a witness, false imprisonment and threatening a family member of a public official.

His sentencing hearing came just one day after the two-year anniversary of the attack, when DePape entered the Pelosis home in San Francisco.

DePape woke Paul Pelosi in his bed demanding to know where Nancy Pelosi was. DePape held Pelosi hostage and brutally beat her until officers entered the residence, causing serious injuries, including a fractured skull.

Before the judge handed down DePape’s sentence, DePape took the stand and spent 30 minutes discussing how 9/11 was an inside job, his belief that he was a psychic and that his ex-wife was a “double agent and condemning America’s “diabolical crime.” magical rituals.” DePape has not apologized to Pelosi or his family for viciously attacking him.

DePape’s attorney asked for a new trial because the aggravated kidnapping charge was added after a San Francisco judge dismissed several other charges because of California’s double jeopardy law.

District Attorney Brooke Jenkins opposed the motion for a new trial.

“This case involved a fact pattern unlike any we have seen before,” Jenkins wrote. “The offenses committed by the defendant were appalling and unprecedented.”

DePape was sentenced in May to 30 years in prison on federal charges of attempted kidnapping and assault.

During the federal trial, DePape admitted that he wanted to hold Nancy Pelosi hostage until she admitted her “lies” about “Russiagate” — a scandal that falsely linked Trump to Russia in 2016.
