There are currently no named storms in the Atlantic basin. However, tropical development is still possible as we approach the final month of the hurricane season. A disturbance is being monitored in the SW Caribbean. The chance of a tropical system forming in the next 48 hours is 0%. But there is an AVERAGE 40% chance of a tropical system developing in the Caribbean over the next seven days. It will likely track SW to the central Caribbean and be named Patty if it becomes a tropical storm. It is not expected to head toward Texas, but it could bring heavy rain and a flood threat to Hispianiola, Jamaica and possibly Florida. Hurricane season runs through November 30.
