Woman accused of stabbing two, including pregnant woman, at Iowa City Bar

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – An Iowa City woman is facing multiple charges after a stabbing at a downtown Iowa City bar.

Lacey Bode, 35, is charged with multiple counts of assault, wounding with intent and being armed with intent.

According to a criminal complaint, Iowa City police were notified of a stabbing at The Haven, a bar located in the 220 block of South Van Buren Street, early Sunday morning.

Police were informed that two victims had been cut and were on their way to the hospital. Bode had already run away.

According to the complaint, one of the victims, who is pregnant, had a small stab wound to her stomach. The victim said she tried to go behind the bar when Bode started pushing her. The victim told Bode not to touch her because she was pregnant. According to the complaint, that’s when Bode pulled out a knife and tried to stab her.

A second victim intervened and became involved in a scuffle with Bode. During this time, the second victim suffered a small cut to his leg and his face was slashed with Bode’s knife. The victim’s injuries required stitches.

Investigators later identified Bode as a suspect. During an interview, Bode placed himself at the scene and admitted that there had been an altercation. Bode told police she did not fear for her safety during the altercation.
