Halloween clown attacked with ‘medical device’

A worker dressed as a clown was taken to hospital after allegedly being attacked with a ‘medical device’ at a Halloween event.

The incident happened on Monday at Zip World’s Ffear Fforest event in Betws-y-Coed, County Conwy – dubbed by organizers “the ultimate scarefest in North Wales”.

Zip World said the staff member had come into contact with a “potentially dangerous medical device” but declined to comment on claims it was a needle.

North Wales Police said they were called to reports of an assault at the scene on Monday evening.

Event organizers said the staff member was taken to hospital to be checked out and has since been released.

The tourist attraction was closed while police investigated, but has now reopened.

The force added that inquiries were ongoing and there was “no risk to the general public”.

A Zip World spokesman said: “The member of staff was dressed as a clown and was part of Zip World’s entertainment team.

“They were released from the hospital last night.”

They added that security measures at the site had been increased and that the firm was working with North Wales Police.
