At least seven people were arrested in a multi-agency raid on the West Side

SAN ANTONIO – Multiple law enforcement agencies worked together to execute a search warrant at two homes on the city’s West Side Tuesday morning that led to seven arrests.

According to Eric Burns, assistant city attorney and head of the Hazardous Assessment Response Team (DART), two homes near West Commerce Street and Belcross Street had a history of code concerns and criminal activity.

About a month ago, the city received concerns about utilities and criminal activity at the two homes. After an investigation, DART Unit, SAPD, SAFFE Unit and Animal Control conducted the raid.

“We were doing our research to make sure, before any action we took, that our suspicions of criminal activity and the code concerns we had were confirmed,” Burns said.

The code issues were related to the fact that no utilities were connected to any of the houses. Instead, investigators found that the utilities had been illegally connected. CPS Energy will now investigate.

In terms of criminal activity, West SAFFE Sergeant and Superintendent Michael Ross said at least seven people had been arrested.

During the raid, law enforcement officers also found several weapons. No charges have been announced at this time as the investigation is ongoing.

Animal control helped the dogs inside the homes at the scene, but they did not pose a danger to anyone, officials said.
