Two videos, one showing a man physically assaulting one cow and the other portraying police personnel beating a man are going viral on the internet as images from a recent incident.

What did users say?: A premium handle X (formerly Twitter) shared the video with a caption that read: “Please share this maxim so that it reaches every Abdul.. If you torture Gau Mata then be ready for it…”

What are the facts?: Both videos are unrelated and shared out of context.

• We could watch the video of a man attacking a calf until at least March 2022.

• The second clip dates from May 2021 and shows policemen beating up minors in Chandauli, Uttar Pradesh due to allegations of mobile device theft.
