Matthew Perry’s parents are ‘delighted’ by criminal charges in actor’s death

Today marks one year since the world lost its beloved friendship star Matthew Perryand much has happened in connection with the actor’s death in the time since. Five people have been charged in connection with his death in August, with a doctor pleading guilty earlier this month. Now, one year later, Perry’s parents look back on their son’s illustrious life and his tragic death.

Suzanne and Keith Perry appeared on Today show on October 28 to remember their son and comment on ongoing criminal cases related to his accidental drug overdose. Suzanne, for her part, is “delighted” that those involved are facing accountability. Keith, meanwhile, is looking forward to seeing justice.

“What I’m hoping, and I think the agencies that have gotten involved in this are hoping, is that the people who have gone into business supplying people with the drugs that will kill themthat I’m now aware of,” said elder Perry. “Never mind what your professional credentials are. You’re going, baby.”

It’s the least the Perry family can hope for as they continue to grieve the loss of Matthew. “Even now, something funny will happen — I’ll see something funny or something ridiculous on the news, I’ll go call him,” Suzanne said. “I have more freedom with him now than I’ve ever had. And then it hits me, then it hits me so hard that he’s not there.”

Perry’s friendship co-star Jennifer Aniston took time today to remember her late friend. “One year,” she captioned an Instagram post of the two; she also promoted the Matthew Perry Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping people struggling with addiction.
