A Grand Forks man charged with attempted assault on an officer

GRAND FORKS, ND (Valley News Live) – A Grand Forks man is facing charges after trying to assault a police officer Sunday night.

Michael Dennis Sisk, 48, is charged with two counts of attempted simple assault, one count of terrorizing, preventing arrest and disorderly conduct.

According to court documents, at 12:44 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, an officer was called to the 300 block of Kittson Avenue for loud music in an apartment. Sisk was outside the apartment while the officer spoke to the callers about the music. Because of Sisk’s comments, the officer took him to Altru Hospital for evaluation.

When Sisk got out of the squad car, the officer noticed a flat-head screwdriver in his pocket. According to court records, Sisk told the officer, “Why don’t you turn around for a second? Turn around and look over there, just for a second. I won’t do anything, there are no weapons.” When asked what he was talking about, Sisk replied:

“Just look over there. You’re going to see something special.”

Sisk eventually entered the hospital and was placed in a wheelchair. Court records say he tried to push the paramedics off him.

The officer says Sisk grabbed him by his duty belt and tried to bite him. As he kicked and flailed his arms, he refused to obey the officer’s command. Sisk would end up ripping off the officer’s sleeve and hitting his body armor. He was then handcuffed.

As Sisk told paramedics and officers “You’re all dead,” he was arrested for disorderly conduct. Sisk said he didn’t care and everyone “was all dead.”

Sisk was forcibly arrested. As officers carried him away, he began kicking and screaming before eventually being placed in a facility at the Grand Forks County Correctional Center.
