A 58-year-old man accused of murdering Klawer teenager Jerobejin van Wyk in February 2022 has been found guilty.

Daniel Smit was sentenced by the Western Cape High Court on Monday.

He was found guilty of attempted murder, kidnapping, premeditated murder, violation of a corpse and defeating the ends of justice.

Crime

Smit is accused of killing the teenager after the human remains were discovered in the sewer pipes at his property.

Van Wyk was described as a respectful boy who loved football and did whatever task his parents gave him, but his life ended when he was hacked to death with his body parts thrown into a sewer in -a small town in the Western Cape. – everywhere stolen mangoes.

Smit allegedly hit Van Wyk with his car and drove the boy back to his own property.
