Kanye West sued for sexual assault, strangulation by America’s Next Model Star

Jenn An, a former contestant on “America’s Next Top Model,” is suing Kanye “Ye” West over an alleged sexual assault and strangulation incident that occurred in 2010 on the set of a video for “In for the Kill” by La Roux. “

The video was filmed “on or around September 7, 2010” in a suite at the Chelsea Hotel in New York. An states that West chose her to be one of the female actors and models, saying, “Give me the Asian girl.” She claims she told the rapper, “I don’t wear much,” to which he is said to have replied, “That’s why I chose you.” The suit, as obtained and reviewed by TheWrap, states that she was “only wearing revealing underwear.”

West is said to have ordered the other background actors and models to leave as well
“(began) filming the sexual assault to which he was going to subject the applicant.”

An said West strangled her with both hands, then “slammed several fingers on her throat, kept moving them in and out and dropped her (which the complainant believed took over a minute) for to emulate forced oral sex and screamed, “This. is art. This is f-king art. I’m like Picasso.'”

Interscope and Universal Music Group are also named in the lawsuit, which was filed Friday in New York, for allegedly allowing West to “unmask the plaintiff on a set of music videos without consequence.”

The lawsuit goes on to say that West’s “gendered, hateful and abusive controversies were a trademark that was too profitable for defendant Universal Music to interfere with, despite its illegal conduct.”

Citing the rapper’s alleged violations of New York’s Gender-Based Violence Law, the model and actress is seeking a jury trial for punitive damages, attorneys’ fees and “damages for mental, emotional and physical injury, suffering, pain and suffering and injury of reputation”.

The lawsuit also alleges that Universal Music Group and its named affiliates “systematically discriminate against women by continuing to work with artists with well-documented histories of sexual harassment and discrimination” and that both the record labels and “other prominent figures in industry. (tried to) ‘bury’ the incident.”

An, who identifies as a “feminist who believes in equal rights for all — including my black, disabled, trans, and immigrant/refugee friends” in her social media bio, has garnered a number of modeling and acting credits since during her time on “ANTM” in 2009, notably appearing in standalone episodes of “The Mindy Project,” “Criminal Minds,” and “Grey’s Anatomy.”

West, who has been hit with a series of lawsuits and allegations at work in recent months, could not be reached for comment for this story. Representatives for Universal Music Group did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.
