The Court of Appeal reserves judgment in the trial to suspend FG allocations to Rivers State

The High Court of Appeal in Abuja has reserved judgment on the appeal filed by the Rivers state governor, praying the court to set aside the order to stop the allocations to Rivers state.

A three-member panel of the Court of Appeal headed by Justice Hamma Barka adjourned for hearing to a date to be communicated to the parties

In the appeal, Governor Siminalayi Fubara asked the Court of Appeal in Abuja to set aside the judgment that barred the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, from releasing the monthly allocations to Rivers State.

He asked the appeal court to allow his appeal and set aside the adverse orders Federal High Court Judge Joyce Abdulmalik had issued against the state in her judgment on October 30.

Governor Fubara’s plea came on a day the bench led by Justice Barka consolidated five other appeals arising from the said judgment of the high court.

After all sides adopted their arguments on Friday, the panel reserved its judgment until a date it said would be communicated to the parties.
