FIA arrests woman at Karachi airport for begging

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for Immigration has conducted a major operation at the Karachi airport, arresting a woman involved in begging on the pretext of performing Umrah.

According to the FIA spokesperson, the woman, identified as Gul Shana, was arrested upon her arrival from Saudi Arabia. She had traveled on flight XY313 and was intercepted as soon as it landed in Karachi.

The arrested woman appeared to be completely unaware of the proper procedures for performing Umrah. During interrogation, she confessed to begging while in Saudi Arabia. She revealed that she would collect around 100 Saudi Riyals daily through begging.

The woman also mentioned that her relatives were similarly involved in begging in Saudi Arabia and her husband was also engaged in the same illegal activity. Investigations into her husband’s role are ongoing.

The arrested woman has been transferred to the Karachi Anti-Trafficking Circle for legal action and investigations are ongoing.

Early yesterday, the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of cocaine into Pakistan at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport.

A Brazilian woman arriving on a flight from Brazil was arrested for trying to smuggle 1,396 kilograms of cocaine hidden in her underwear.

According to ANF officials, the woman appeared suspicious during passenger clearance, prompting a search.

During the search, authorities discovered cocaine hidden in a plastic bag inside her underwear.

The total value of the seized drugs was estimated at over Rs 13.9 million.

A case under the Narcotics Control Act was registered against the woman and further investigations were underway.

ANF officials noted that drug trafficking networks continued to use increasingly sophisticated methods to smuggle narcotics, but the force remained committed to combating drug smuggling.

Earlier, ANF seized drugs worth over Rs 4.2 crore across the country in a series of anti-smuggling operations.

According to an official spokesperson, the ANF’s crackdown on drug smuggling in educational institutions and various cities across the country continued.

During these operations, 13 suspects were arrested and 37 kilograms of drugs were seized, with a total value exceeding 4.2 million lei.

ANF recovered 90 grams of hashish from a suspect near a university in Islamabad.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to selling drugs to students in educational institutions, Express News reported.

Cases under the Anti-Narcotics Act were registered against the arrested suspects and investigations were ongoing.
