Plea change expected for woman accused of buying gun straws used in Burnsville staff shooting – ABC 6 News

(KSTP) — The woman accused of illegally buying guns for the man who killed three Burnsville first responders has indicated she will change her plea.

Ashley Dyrdahl, 35, is federally charged with five counts of straw purchase, five counts of making false statements during the purchase of a gun and one count of conspiracy.

She initially pleaded not guilty on gun purchases for Shannon Gooden, 38, who was barred from owning a gun because of a previous felony conviction.

Burnsville officers Paul Elmstrand and Matthew Ruge and firefighter-paramedic Adam Finseth were killed in the February standoff.

The owner of a gun dealer in Burnsville confirmed to 5 NEWS EYEWITNESSES that a gun found at Gooden’s residence was straw purchased and traced to his store.

According to the US Attorney’s Office, because Gooden could not own guns due to his previous convictions, Dyrdahl worked with Gooden, with whom she was in a relationship, to help him obtain guns.

Prosecutors say Gooden allegedly sent Dyrdahl the guns he wanted to buy, and she placed the orders, filled out the forms and told him, “We’ve got to make sure we’re smart about all of this, you know?”

Among the guns he allegedly bought and gave to Gooden were three AR-15-style semi-automatic lower receivers, including one with a binary trigger and heavier-loading ammunition for increased damage.

A change of plea hearing is set for Dec. 18.
