CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) – Four juveniles are accused of mishandling a stolen gun, which led to the accidental shooting of a 16-year-old.

According to the Carbondale Police Department, they responded to the 300 block of South Marion Street around 10:36 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20, for a report of a shooting victim.

Police say they found a 16-year-old from Carbondale with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. The victim was taken to the emergency room for medical treatment.

During the investigation, police say they learned four juvenile acquaintances were mishandling a gun, which resulted in the victim being accidentally shot.
