The Little Rock Police Department has identified the victim of Monday’s shooting death.

Javier Alvares-Garcia, 50, was the victim of a shooting that occurred in the 2400 block of South Pulaski Street, according to a news release from the Police Department.

At approximately 5:17 p.m., Monday, officers from the 12th Street Division responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle at the address.

When officers arrived, they found Alvares-Garcia unresponsive inside a 2003 Honda Pilot, suffering from a gunshot wound.

A preliminary investigation was conducted as detectives canvassed the area, reviewed surveillance video and interviewed witnesses.

The investigation is ongoing.
