Norwegian extradited from California to stand trial in Michigan on sex abuse charges

DICKINSON COUNTY, Michigan. – A 23-year-old man from Norway who lives in California will stand trial in Michigan after allegedly sexually assaulting two children.

According to the authoritiesTrentin McWilliams was ordered to stand trial on Friday, November 15, on seven counts of sexual assault. McWilliams was extradited to Michigan by US Marshals in September to face the charges.

McWilliams allegedly sexually assaulted a child at a relative’s home in 2018. He was charged by the Michigan Attorney General with second-degree criminal sexual conduct and battery on a child for immoral purposes in July 2024.

In February 2024, he was also charged by the Dickinson County District Attorney’s Office with three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. These charges stem from allegations that McWilliams sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl in October 2022.

A pretrial date has not yet been set.
