Domestic abusers in UP sentenced to prison | News, Sports, Jobs

MARQUETTE — Six defendants have been sentenced to prison in the past six months for domestic violence crimes after being charged by the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s Northern Division for the Western District of Michigan, U.S. Attorney Mark Totten said.

In a news release, Totten announced that Ronald Burt Krull, 56, of Kinross, was sentenced this week to 30 months in prison for assault by strangulation of an intimate partner.

“The harsh reality is that millions of Americans live in fear of domestic violence every day,” Totten said. “My office stands with victims and will continue to do everything we can to protect them and work with law enforcement partners to hold their abusers accountable.”

Previously, the court sentenced these defendants:

— On June 5, Steven Webster, 31, of Green Bay, Wis., was sentenced to five years in prison for domestic assault by a habitual offender.

— On June 26, Jacob Wolf, 28, of Marquette, received 38 months in prison for domestic assault by a habitual offender.

— On July 18, Eric Halfaday, 39, of Wilson, received two years in prison for assault by strangulation of an intimate partner.

— On Sept. 5, Jaden Plank, 25, of Sault Ste. Marie, received 37 months in prison for assault by strangulation of an intimate partner.

— On Nov. 18, Jason Michael Noguess, 33, of Delta County, received 33 months in prison for assault by suffocation of an intimate partner.

The FBI, Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Police, Sault Tribal Police Department, Hannahville Police Department and Marquette City Police investigated the cases.
