A woman working at a photocopy shop in Chakra Nagar in Madurai in Tamil Nadu was assaulted by a man after she rejected his romantic advances. The incident, caught on CCTV, went viral.

Lavanya, the victim, was allegedly harassed by 25-year-old Siddiq Raja, who persistently professed his love for her. On Sunday, when she was at work and refused to speak to him, he repeatedly assaulted her, knocking her unconscious.

Passersby from nearby shops rushed to her aid and admitted her to Rajaji Government Hospital. The Othakadai police have registered a case and launched an investigation.

In another incident, a 26-year-old woman the teacher was hacked to death in the premises of a government school for similar reasons. The victim, Ramani, was attacked by a 30-year-old Madhan on Wednesday morning for allegedly refusing his marriage proposal.

Preliminary investigations revealed that her refusal led him to attack her in the school staff room. The Thanjavur police were investigating the case further.

In another incident, a 30-year-old man the lawyer was brutally attacked by a man outside a court complex in Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri district. The brutal attack, caught on camera, took place on Wednesday morning in the Hosur area, about 40 km southeast of Bengaluru.

Tamil Nadu BJP shared the video of the Krishnagiri attack online and said, “Teacher killed in Thanjavur, lawyer hacked to death in Hosur court premises, questionable order in DMK regime…!”

Vinoj P Selvam, president of BJP’s youth wing in Tamil Nadu also put up a post on X criticizing the DMK for the increasing cases of violence.
