KISHTWAR, Nov 20: Police here today solved a burglary case within 24 hours where the case involved theft of 60 meters of 70mm² copper cable (4 cores) worth Rs. 1.98 lakh from Pakal Dul Hydro Electric Project (HEP) Power House Complex.
The theft took place on the night of November 18, 2024.
On receipt of a formal complaint from the P&A Officer of Pakal Dul HEP, a case was registered at Kishtwar Police Station in FIR no. 275/2024.
A team led by Incharge Police Post Dool, PSI Shubham Sharma launched an immediate and thorough investigation and arrested three suspects – Nisar Ahmed, son of Ghulam Rasool, a minor and Abdul Razaq, son of Mohd Ismail – all residents of Dool, Kishtwar .
During the hearings, the accused confessed to the crime and revealed the location where they hid the stolen goods.
Acting on leads, the police, assisted by EMIC Dool, Vijay Kumar Gupta (NT Dool), conducted a search and recovered 42 kg of molten copper wire, crime tools like ropes, bags and blades.
The total value of the property recovered was about Rs. 1.98 lakh. Further investigations were underway and further recoveries were anticipated.
SSP Kishtwar, Javaid Iqbal Mir has issued a strong warning to people involved in illegal activities, urging them to desist and integrate into the mainstream.
