BETHEL, Ohio (WXIX) – Fire reignited briefly Wednesday morning at a Clermont County home destroyed in a deadly explosion Tuesday.

Bethel-Tate firefighters responded to the 3300 block of Vic Joy Drive around 6 a.m. after spending most of the previous day there, according to Bethel-Tate Fire Chief Chris Cooper.

Fire crews quickly knocked down the flames and cleared the scene by 6:35 a.m

A large toolbox containing papers and clothing smoldered overnight and caught fire shortly before 6 a.m., the chief said.

The box showed no signs of fire before crews cleared the site Tuesday night, he added.

Two people in the house were killed in a large explosion that sent debris across the neighborhood.

Their names have not been released.

A third victim, a man, was burned and taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, according to the chief.

His condition remains unknown, the chief told FOX19 NOW Wednesday morning.

The fire department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating.

One of the victim’s relatives has set up a GoFundMe for cremation costs.
