William Ruto commits KSh 100 million to anti-femicide campaign and gives directive to police

chairman William Ruto declared a full-scale government campaign to end cases of murder against women.

In the recent past, the country has witnessed a number of incidents where women are brutally killed.

Appreciating the rampant nature of the cases, otherwise called femicide, the president said his government would intensify a campaign to end them.

In addition to police action, measures include an awareness campaign among women to inform them of the potential dangers they face in social circles.

The President pledged KSh 100,000 to facilitate the campaign.

“As we approach the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence, women leaders have agreed to launch a nationwide awareness campaign to confront this vice head-on. This campaign will have the full support of my government and we are committed. KSh 100 million for the Safe Homes, Safe Spaces campaign, I urge every Kenyan to join this movement, speak out, educate and stand united against femicide,” Ruto said.
