Homeless woman accuses Westminster man of daughter’s knife attack

A 43-year-old man homeless woman was charged Tuesday with stabbing a father as she protected her daughter inside Westminster.

Victoria Vu, whose last address was in San Diego, was charged with two counts each of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon and attempted injury or intentional injury of a child likely to result in bodily injury serious, all crimes, with conviction. enhancements for personal use of a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury.

She was also charged with felony possession of a switchblade knife.

Police were dispatched around 4:45 p.m. Sunday to the 8200 block of Westminster Boulevard in reference to the stabbing.

The Westminster man said he was walking with his daughter through a yard when Vu threw a bottle at the pair before attacking them with a knife, police said.

Vu was accused of trying to stab the child while her father was protecting her, and the man suffered stab wounds to his hand and leg, police said. The girl escaped injury.

The man said a good Samaritan also intervened, helping prevent further injuries. Vu eventually left but remained in the area and was arrested, police said.

Police have not determined what prompted the attack, authorities said.
