Overland Park police are asking for the public’s help in finding the sexual assault suspect

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Overland Park police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man suspected of sexual assault and theft Tuesday morning.

The man broke into a home around 2:40 a.m. near West 97th Street and Reeder Street.

According to Overland Park police, the victim did not know her attacker, but described the man as between 20 and 30 years old, with a stocky build.

He was wearing a black jacket and a black beanie hat.

The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

“While incidents like this are extremely rare in Overland Park, we fully recognize the seriousness and urgency of the situation,” OPPD Chief Doreen Jokerst said in a statement. “That’s why community support is so essential to our work and we rely on the public to help us in cases like this.”
