HOUSTON, Texas — Popular country singer Jason Head, known professionally as Sundance Head, was hospitalized after being accidentally shot at his Texas ranch on Friday.

Head, 46, is in stable condition after shooting himself while hunting. His gun slipped from its holster, hit the side of his Jeep, discharged and hit him in the stomach area.

The musician who won “The Voice” in 2016 posted a video statement on Facebook.

“I’m still alive, thankfully,” he said.

Misty Head’s wife wrote further Facebook asking supporters for prayers.

“I’m taking a picture of his shirt just so you can see how lucky he was. Anything higher or lower would have been devastating. I cannot express how grateful we are for all the messages, calls and prayers. God is AWESOME,” she wrote in a Facebook update.
