Burnt Chef Project launches whistleblower service for workplace issues

Mental health charity Burnt Chef has launched a global whistleblowing service to give employees a reliable way to raise issues at work.

Following the entry into force of the Protection of Workers (Equality Amendment Act 2010) Act 2023 on 26 October 2024, the whistleblower service provides hospitality workers with a safe third-party reporting channel.

The service was created to transform the dynamic in which employees struggle to voice their concerns in the often high-pressure environment of the hospitality sector.

Organizations can provide their teams with access to a shared third party who can collate the information and report back to Burnt Chef Project partner Wellbeing CIC, who will then work alongside the client to help remediate issues raised.

For both businesses and employees, the whistleblowing service aims to build trust and transparency, while helping to create a positive company culture and reduce staff turnover. Resolving issues raised early should in turn improve employee engagement and boost team performance, keeping the workplace a safe, reliable and enjoyable place.

Trained specialists handle each confidential matter with discretion, allowing the employee complete anonymity as well as access to 24/7 support. Each report will be handled with sensitivity and professionalism, with recommendations and advice following the report helping to support a resolution that suits each person and business.

Kris Hall, founder and CEO of the Burnt Chef Project, said: “Whistleblowing in the hospitality industry is a crucial mechanism for safeguarding ethical practices, protecting employees and building the industry’s reputation.

“Allowing companies the opportunity to provide this service for their staff will help build confidence and also ease the pressures and anxieties that raising concerns can cause. By working with experienced staff to support them in resolving situations in a professionally designed system, we hope this becomes an integral part of ensuring the mental health, wellbeing and comfort of staff at work.”

Available to businesses of all sizes, the alert service is offered as an annual subscription.
