WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) – Two people have been charged after a child died in a moped crash in southern Kentucky.

A 10-year-old girl died in August when the moped she was riding in crashed on Interstate 75 in Whitley County.

Kentucky State Police said Darius Wade, the mother’s boyfriend, was drunk.

Police also arrested the mother, Danisha Martin.

Both were charged in connection with the girl’s death.

Wade was indicted for murder and Martin for complicity to commit murder.

No guilty pleas have been entered for both.

A preliminary conference was set for Jan. 21.
