BUNCOMBE COUNTY, NC (WLOS) — Mark Anthony Smith, a licensed physician from Jacksonville, Fla., will appear in a Buncombe County courtroom on Feb. 12.

This appearance follows a second court appearance this morning.

The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office charged Smith with multiple felonies, including stealing donations meant for the Helene victims.

His charges included:

• Breaking and/or entering
• Theft after breaking/entering
• Obtain a false claim of ownership
• Violation during an emergency
• Failure to Return Hired MV <>>$4,000 (Failure to return a leased motor vehicle valued in excess of $4,000)
• Damage to personal property

Smith was being held on $60,000 bond in the Buncombe County Detention Center. He posted his pledge on Tuesday, November 5th.

He also spoke to Smith First Coast Newsan ABC affiliate in Jacksonville, denying his accusationsand calling them “absurd”.
