Diddy’s prosecuting attorney faces an extortion lawsuit from an unnamed celebrity

An unnamed “celebrity” filed a civil suit for extortion Tony Busbeea Texas attorney representing more than 100 Sean “Diddy” Combs‘ the alleged abuse victims – claiming the lawyer is threatening to file a lawsuit containing “horrific and false allegations” if the anonymous one doesn’t pay up.

In a lawsuit filed Monday (November 18) in Los Angeles, attorneys for a “high-profile” public figure identified only as “John Doe” claim that Buzbee is “shamelessly trying to extort exorbitant sums of money” from him, threatening to “unleash”. completely fabricated and malicious allegations of sexual assault.”

“This is textbook extortion,” wrote the celebrity’s lawyers, who are from prominent law firm Quinn Emanuel. “Buzbee claims to speak truth to power, but that’s far from the truth.”

Buzbee allegedly contacted the man earlier this month with “vile” false claims: that he had “raped several minors, both male and female, who had been drugged at parties hosted by Combs.” If the celebrity did not agree to a “confidential mediation,” Buzbee reportedly warned that he would “take a different course.”

“Plaintiff is currently facing a gun to his head,” the lawsuit states. “Either repeatedly pay an exorbitant amount of money … or face the threat of untold civil lawsuits and financial and personal ruin.”

In a statement to Panel On Monday, Buzbee said he and his firm “will not allow the powerful and their high-dollar lawyers to intimidate or silence sexual survivors” and warned that a lawsuit against the unnamed plaintiff is in the offing.

“It is clear that the frivolous lawsuit filed against my firm is an aggressive attempt to intimidate or silence me and ultimately my clients,” Buzbee wrote. “This effort is a serious miscalculation. I’m a US Marine. I will not be silenced or intimidated. Neither do my clients. Because our professional settlement efforts have clearly failed, we will instead disclose the demand letters we sent at the time we filed this action.”

Combs has faced a wave of abuse allegations over the past year, beginning with civil lawsuits and followed by a bombshell federal indictment in September, in which prosecutors allege he ran an extensive criminal operation for years designed to satisfy his need for “sexual gratification.”

A few weeks after the indictment, Buzbee joined the fray by holding a press conference in which he claimed to represent 120 people who were victimized by Combs and threatened a wave of litigation. He has since it was submitted more than a dozen such processesall on behalf of unnamed Doe plaintiffs.

At the time, Buzbee explicitly warned that it would name others: “We will expose those who allowed this behavior behind closed doors.” And later, in an interview with TMZhe said several such celebrities have decided privately to remain anonymous.

In Monday’s complaint, the unnamed celebrity said the efforts were a “squat” and a “cynical extortion scheme” — one in which Buzbee “capitalizes on the courage of those victims who came forward” against Combs to win unearned settlements from “innocent celebrities”. politicians and businessmen”.

“Defendants devised a scheme to obtain payments by using coercive threats from anyone connected to Combs — no matter how distantly,” lawyers for the unnamed plaintiff write. “The defendants claim to be investigating the facts, but the reality is that they are finding deep pockets and trying to tar them all with the same brush.”

The unusual episode — a mysterious celebrity plaintiff who claims he’s being blackmailed with baseless abuse allegations — echoes a similar incident last month involving Garth Brooks. In that case, Brooks filed an anonymous “John Doe” lawsuit seeking a federal injunction to block publication of the allegations. But the accuser in the end they filed the lawsuit for abuse against Brooks in a separate court a few weeks later.
